For my nephew's 2nd birthday, I made this Yo Gabba Gabba cake. This theme had so many possible options, but I tried to keep it fairly simple. I wanted to focus on the characters, and made each out of fondant. I also replaced the Yo Gabba Gabba logo with my nephew's name. Enjoy!

Thundercats 7th Birthday Cake
Thundercats Ho! It's a familiar call from my childhood. I remember playing Thundercats with my babysitter's kids when I was 10. We had a lot of fun. Thundercats has made it's return 25+ years later and I was excited that a high school friend asked me to make a Thundercats cake for his son's birthday.
Grandma's 76th Birthday Cake
Since I started decorating cakes for people besides my kids, I've been getting a lot of requests from friends and family. I love these cakes because I can experiment with designs and do whatever I want...and since these customers aren't paying, I'm a lot less stressed in the process. This year my Grandmother is staying in NY for the winter, so I made her a cake for her New Year's Eve birthday party. This is my first attempt at a topsy turvy cake using new cake pans I received for MY birthday. Not bad for a first attempt.

Just for Fun - Snowman Cake Pops
I've seen cake pops around as I do my research for design ideas and inspiration, but I had not yet found a reason to make them...until this Christmas. My family had decided to have a "Kabob Kristmas" and make only food on sticks for our Christmas Eve gathering. A requirement for the 'kabob' theme meant that the skewer or stick had to have at least 3 items on it. I thought cake pops would be the perfect kabob item, but needed to find a way to get 3 pieces. Then it hit me - of course, a snowman. After a ton of research I found very few, and very poor examples of 3 sectioned snowman cake pops. If you know me, you know this was my challenge and nothing was going to stop me. They were surprisingly easy...and so stinking cute when I was done.
They are made with white cake and vanilla frosting, then dipped into white chocolate. I piped on the eyes, nose and strap of the ear muffs. The scarf is a fruit roll up and the ear covers are M&Ms. I'm so glad I accepted this challenge and conquered it!

8th Birthday - Winter/Skating Theme
A friend from work asked if I could make a cake for her daughter's 8th birthday. For her party they were going ice skating. I had originally planned on putting an ice skate on the top, but changed my mind and went with just a cool, geometric winter theme.

1st Birthday - Fall Theme
Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and why I loved designing and decorating this cake so much. The cake was for a 1st birthday in October. It was decorated with fondant stripes, dots, pumpkins and leaves all in fall colors. I loved making the pumpkins the most.
7th Birthday Mermaid
Seven year olds must love mermaids...because this was the second request for a mermaid cake for a 7th birthday. This cake is 2 tiers...the bottom is an underwater scene with chocolate rocks and tootsie roll seaweed, starfish and goldfish. The top tier is a beach with graham cracker sand and a frosting mermaid.
